WORD OF THE WEEK

Disinterested: Unbiased

Sentence: All judges must be disinterested.

Despite what this word may look like, it does not mean uninterested. You cannot say, "why are you so disinterested in the movie?" for the same reason you cannot say, "why are you so unbiased in the movie?". It simply does not make sense. Except maybe if it was a murder mystery and you were to decide what character you suspected, or if you were a movie critic. But even then, you would probably phrase the sentence differently.

In the English language, and in life, things aren't always what they look like.

Until next time...

Stay Curious ;)

Love,

Sarah
