WORD OF THE WEEK

Cronyism refers to the act of unfairly awarding certain advantages to friends or trusted colleagues.

This concept is closely related to nepotism. While nepotism usually refers to partiality towards family, cronyism refers to friends.

Cronyism can be often be found in politics. Often times power is handed without regard to one's qualifications.

Cronyism is ethically wrong!

One of the most significant themes in ethics is fairness.

Concepts like cronyism and nepotism interfere with this idea because they provide advantages to people who may not deserve them.

As Aristotle once said: "Equals should be treated equally and unequal unequally."

Until next time...

Stay Curious ;)

Love,

Sarah
