Sesquipedalian- someone or something that uses a lot of long words.

Sentence: As a person who is a sesquipedalian, I tend to overuse complicated words in my everyday vocabulary

It seemed that the sesquipedalian section of the biology book was made simply to torture us.


Being a sesquipedalian person means you have a great vocabulary, but you might sound like you're showing off. Unless you're a renowned professor talking to another renowned professor, an overuse of big words can often be annoying.


Being called a sesquipedalian is not always a compliment, but not an insult either. Something or someone that is sesquipedalian is intelligent but sometimes hard to understand.
