WORD OF THE WEEK

Quotidian- something that occurs every day.

This word might not have a special meaning, but it can come in handy. It can be used as a synonym for 'everyday'.

Often times, a piece of writing becomes boring or monotonous if one word is mentioned over and over again.

Take a look at these sentences: "The drivers honked and yelled their way through LA's everyday traffic. It seemed that every day was the same old story. Every day, the drivers had to maneuver their way through traffic."

The sentences above mention 'every day' three times. Seems a little repetitive, right?

Here's a better way to illustrate the same concept: "The drivers honked and yelled their way through LA's quotidian traffic. Every day, the drivers had to maneuver their way through the clustered roads."

The second sentence is much cleaner and sharper. It tells the same story as the first sentence but in a better way.

Just another reason to have a bigger vocabulary!

Until next week...

Stay Curious ;)
